Become a Volunteer at GSSC

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Georgian Shores Seniors Club and without them, the club could not offer the programs and social events that it does. At the moment we have 77 active volunteers who give various amounts of time to the club and every one of them is much appreciated. Members who do volunteer are celebrated at the Volunteer  Appreciation luncheon held each year in April, which is the Volunteer Appreciation month. Any member who would like to donate their time, use their skills and share the rewarding experience of working with others can contact the office for further information. Below is a list of the various Volunteer Roles at the Georgian Shores Seniors Club.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

* Planning and marketing of social events
* Food shopping, preparation, cooking and serving

* Clean up after events, washing tablecloths
* Organizing games, trivia, ice-breakers at events

* Decorating and changing decorations

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

* Attend community events to recruit new members
* Prepare and distribute Welcome packages
* Membership renewal sign up
* Call Lifetime members to update correct information

* Assist with Open House set up

* Respond to all inquiries regarding membership at the Club

 

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

* Food preparation, cooking and serving at regular events

* Clean-up following events
* Ticket collection at regular events
* Oversee and adjust regular occurring events as needed

DELTA BINGO

*  Represent The Place at Delta Bingo in Penetang on a 2 hour shift every two months

*  Volunteer opportunity requires short online and onsite training

​

PROMOTION

* Amateur photographers
* Writers for press releases and club articles

* Speaking at community events

​

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

* Garden and Shuffleboard maintenance
* Grass cutting and trimming, snow removal

* Basic carpentry for minor repairs

* Plumbing (tap, washer and filter changes)

* Basic electrical and light bulb replacements

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE

* Maintain records of volunteer data and hours
* Promote volunteerism at The Club
* Arrange for volunteer information on website, eBlasts, community outlets

* Recruit and orient new volunteers

​

CONTRIBUTION VOLUNTEER

* A member who can no longer physically assist with volunteer tasks but would like to contribute to the Club in a monetary amount of their choosing.
